Bold and Beautiful Shoe/Bag Duo’s
While in the midst of spring and as summer rapidly approaches, it’s time to take a step back and evaluate our wardrobes. With so many trends on the rise, it’s easy to revamp your closet. If you don’t want to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, sticking with an accessory change is definitely the way to go. Accessories are a subtle way to make or break your look. Here are three bag and shoe combo’s I found that will turn any outfit you have into a stunning spring/summer chic look.
Look 1: Stunning Snake Skin

Bag: Michael Kors Jade Snakeskin Clutch $398
One of the most popular looks on the spring and summer runway this year was animal print, so what better way to stand out of the crowd with this stunning snake skin look. Snake skin is one of my favorite versions of animal print as it can come in so many different colors and patterns. These snake skin sandals from Steve Madden and matching bag from Michael Kors will match with any outfit and is the perfect way to make a bold statement. Add these statement pieces to a sundress for a tropical vibe or to a pair of jeans for a casual yet trendy look for a night on the town. These type of sandals are a perfect way to stay comfortable and stylish, while the chain cross body bag also adds a fun flair while effortlessly carrying your items.
Look 2: Studded Nude Realness

Bag: Michael Kors $275
Nude is one of the most conventional style trends as it matches with literally anything. So why not dress up your wardrobe with these studded nudes accessories. These heels from Steve Madden are sure to make a statement for any girl strutting her way down the street. And this bag from Michael Kors is not only perfect for any outfit, but also has a removable strap, so whether you want to rock a clutch on a formal occasion or sport a cross body bag on a casual day out, this bag is perfect. Nude can also be seen as boring or a safe style to wear which is why the studs on these pieces make them perfect. It makes a simple piece into a bold, eccentric, and stand out essential.
Look 3: Dazzling Diamonds

Bag: Steve Madden Bswagger Black $58.00
If you’re into dazzling the crowd why not try these stunning diamond pieces. Steve Madden brings us these beautiful sparkling heels and matching clutch, sure to make any outfit into an elegant look. Diamonds and sparkles are so amazing because not only do they never go out of style but they are perfect for any season and match with everything. Try pairing this duo with any dress to turn your outfit from ordinary to extraordinary. These two pieces will be sure to make you say ‘diamonds are a girls best friend’.
Overall, these three shoe and bag pairings are perfect for any outfit whether it be everyday glam or a night out on the town, investing in these accessories will give you a bang for your buck.
Blog 11: Fashion Business
When people think of the fashion world they think it’s all about looks and glamour, but it goes so much deeper than that. Behind the fashion industry lies a whole world of business. Once the clothes are designed and made they are then sold to fashion retailers who distribute the designs to the public. These retailers could be stores like Bloomingdales, Macy’s or Nordstroms. Today I will be focusing on my favorite of the bunch- Barney’s New York.
Barney’s is known for being an extremely expensive and high end luxury department store locating in New York, but how did it become so notorious? The first store was opened on Seventh Avenue in New York, operating out of a very small space. The owner of the store, Barney Pressman, was one of the first retailers to use radio and television to attract customers.
Barney’s originally started as a discount store, until Barney’s son, Fred Pressman, took over in the 1950’s. Fred was the one that decided that Barney’s should be a high end fashion retailer than only sold luxury brands. This was an iconic moment in the history of Barney’s as the store is famous for it’s high prices and designer fashions. Another business move the brand made that could contribute to it’s popularity was opening stores up internationally in places like Japan and Singapore along with multiple locations across the country. Letting a brand spread globally is another great way to help expand your fashion business as doing so allows a whole new audience to experience your business.
In current times, Barney’s keeps itself relevant by promoting the brand through social media influencers. In 2019, there is no better way to market a campaign than through social media, since everybody is on Instagram and Twitter. The brand decided to take an approach regarding mid-level luxury items in attempts to appeal to a younger audience. This is a very smart tactic to attract a younger demographic as most millennial’s don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on clothing items, yet still keeping the items designer and luxury, not straying too far from what made the brand iconic.
Looking at a fashion business like Barney’s is inspiring as it started off as a 500 square foot hole in the wall to an enormous complex featuring 20 separate shops inside. After hearing the story of how Barney’s became the success it is now the one thing those who want to be successful in the business size of fashion is that it’s all about branding. What made Barney’s so popular and unique was when the company decided they were strictly luxury items and only designer goods. For this reason, some people even consider Barney’s a tourist destination. The exclusive status of the clothes the retailer sells is what attracts people around the world, because it’s truly a store unlike anything else.
Blog 10: Bridal Fashion
Weddings are deemed to be the most important day in a woman’s life, so it only makes sense to buy the best when looking for a gown. There are a lot of interesting trends emerging recently regarding not only bridal fashion, but elegant gown fashion in general. Here are four trends to look out for if you’re a bride to be looking to stand out:
1.) Capes

One of the biggest statements you can make regarding bridal fashion would be a cape. Capes have been appearing everywhere in fashion and is definitely an emerging trend to look out for. Not only will a cape make a bold statement sure to stand out, but they are perfect for winter weddings. Above we see a Zuhair Murad gown keeping it minimal in design with a short cape, but adding the right amount of glam with detailed sequined embroidery. We also see Berta Bridal’s take on this trend using a sheer, transparent cape, making this additional piece of fabric look light and effortless. Elie Saab dresses up an embellished jumpsuit with a long blush pink cape, a perfect way to add feminine elements to a pantsuits masculine silhouette.
2.) Statement Sleeves

If you want to make a bold statement that makes everyone say ‘wow’ as you walk down the aisle, but don’t want something as ‘stand out’ as a cape, consider a dress with statement sleeves. Whether it’s bell sleeves or lace sleeves, this trend is definitely in and is the perfect way to mix trendiness with elegance. Zuhair Murad show’s us dramatic bell sleeves, which creates a flattering silhouette, and also brings us long draping lace sleeves, which will make any aisle look like a runway. Inbal Dror also rocks the dramatic statement sleeves, but in a lovely translucent sequined fabric.
3.) Lace Overlay

An absolutely timeless trend, lace will never go out of style as it still is a popular design for any dress. Consider looking into a dress with lace overlays as it is perfect for any season. Dana Harel gives us rustic vibes with small floral embroidery over a loose and flowing translucent fabric. Naeem Khan gives us a perfect spring style dress with large dazzling flower statement pieces. Sandra Mansour gives us a more subtle look with her boho chic, puff sleeve wedding dress design.
4.) Sequins & Sparkles

The one trend showing up everywhere that will always remain relevant is sequins and sparkles. Nothing says elegance more than a dress that dazzles as you make your way down the aisle. In the top picture we have a Zuhair Murad dress, similar to the Elie Saab above, as both gowns use an ombre sequined design that makes its way down the dress. We also see another Zuhair Murad design that is a sure way to stand out as it exudes disco ball vibes, perfectly lighting up a room.
If you want to turn the aisle into a catwalk, consider these four popular trends. Whether it be something a bold as a cape or statement sleeves, or a timeless design like lace overlays and sequins, make sure to look into these trends to make a statement on your special day.
Blog 9: Fashion Shoot
The theme for my fashion shoot is going to be something about the current day and age of modern fashion regarding female empowerment. To elaborate, throughout this course I have noticed multiple trends regarding hyper feminization such as metallics and pink. Being that those are two of my favorite trends, and regarding the theme of my blog, the current age of aesthetic, those along with the other hyper feminine styles are what I will be focusing.
Things you can expect to see is lots of heels, dresses, skirts and anything pink or that sparkles. I think there are many ways to express femininity, but one of my favorite ways to flaunt how much I love being a woman is show casing the girly girl I am at heart.

Blog 8: TV or Online Icon
My favorite TV show for fashion that I cannot get enough of is Ru Paul’s Drag Race. I’ve been a fan of the show for years now and every season the queens bring bigger and better looks to the runway. If you’re a fan of fashion and love your fair share of reality tv drama, I suggest watching this show. The queens consistently bring new looks to the runway every week which leave me inspired. However, outside of the show, a few of the stars continue to impress me on instagram. Here are a few of the stars from Ru Paul’s Drag Race that you need to be following if you want fresh and fun fashion looks.
One icon I admire is @ageofaquaria. Aquaria was the winner of Ru Paul’s Drag Race season 10 and has built a huge online following. Aquaria was known on the show for having stunning looks and bringing something new to the runway every week, which she continues to do with her social media presence. Every outfit that Aquaria posts on her instagram is unique and is the definition of thinking outside the box. I admire the unpredictability of every look, as I never know what to expect when she posts. The fact that I’m always surprised by something new when I go to her page is exactly what I’m looking for when following an online style icon.

Aquaria can resonate with my audience as she is extremely modern and a trend setter. Her style is the definition of new age fashion and the outfits she presents are truly nothing I’ve ever seen before. If you’re looking for inspiration for your next look and want to follow someone with a fresh, never seen before style, I highly suggest giving this queen a follow.
Another queen from Drag Race I consider a style icon is @plastiquetiara. Plastique is a contestant on the current season, but from what I seen so far, she manages to bring us jaw dropping looks every challenge. Plastique had a huge social media following before the show, and just looking at her instagram, it’s clear to see why. Her hyper feminine drag and glamorous looks are enough to dazzle any timeline.

I think Plastique’s sense of bubbly and girly style would resonate with my audience as we are living in the age of female empowerment. Her fun, dazzling looks always amaze me and inspire me to add a little more sparkle to my wardrobe. I know that whenever I go to her page I surely will not be disappointed as this queen is always giving endless amounts of elegance.
Another one of my favorite queens to follow from the show is @naomismalls. Naomi Smalls was the runner up of season 8, but her looks alone should have snatched her the crown. Naomi is also a queen known for bringing it to the runway every week and watching her on the show was always so eye opening as she was showing the world these concepts and designs no one has ever seen before. She continues to bring that unique and one of a kind style to her instagram as she posts intricate and head turning images of her extensive wardrobe.

I think Naomi’s sense of style appeals to my audience because most of her outfits are nods to the fashion trends in other era’s with a twist on culture today. Her style represents popular trends from the 60’s through to the early 00’s but she always adds her own sense of personalized flair to modernize it. I also think it deserves to be noted the extremely elaborate set ups behind Naomi’s fashion shoots, for example, like the one above showing a 70’s style acrylic bubble dress, posed in front of multiple Barbie- or in this case- Naomi dolls.
There are so many other queens from Ru Paul’s Drag Race who are absolutely killing it on instagram, but Aquaria, Plastique and Naomi are my favorite from the few. If you’re looking to add new style icons to your following list and need some inspiration you’ve never seen before, I highly recommend giving any of these queens a follow. And if you’re looking for style inspirations past the instagram feed, than give Ru Paul’s Drag Race a watch as they wrap up their 11th season on VH1.
Midterm: Nails
When it comes to fashion we tend to focus on the clothes, but what really puts together a look is the tiny details such as hair, make up, and accessories. One of the newest trends in fashion that is really starting to build popularity is nails. Over the years, the evolution of nail styles has evolved. From what started as a simple coat of paint on ones finger tips has dramatically evolved into a huge fashion statement; here are four trends to pay attention to next time you go for a manicure.
1.) Pink

It’s no secret that pink has been a huge trend lately, so of course it only makes sense to see so many pink nail designs popping up on the streets. From baby pink to hot pink, it seems that all shades of the fun and feminine color are in style. Getting a coat of pink polish however doesn’t need to be boring. Above, in the first picture, we see a fun design of bubblegum pink with a bold and elegant sequined ring finger. Or even the third photo, nothing says fun like a trendy animal print to stand out. Maybe you want to keep it simple, such as in the second pic with a dashing bright hot pink, paired with a glitter top coat. Anyway you want to do it, embrace your feminine side because pink is definitely in.
2.) Stiletto Nails

The stiletto nail trends has been extremely popular amongst celebrities, so it’s no surprise it’s made its way to the streets of New York. Above are three interesting ways to make your claws into fashion statements. In the first picture we see a beautiful lilac design incorporating trends such as glitter, sequins and a matte deep purple. The second picture displays a more modest and simple nude stiletto nail, however, the wearers use of a large gemstone statement ring along with her tattoo’s make this conventional design unique. Lastly, our third picture displays another classic use of the color pink while incorporating elements of iridescent metallics. If you want a dominating nail design while staying on trend, stiletto nails are the way to go.
3.) Long Acrylics

Acrylics have always stayed a major trend with nail designs over the years, so its only makes sense that half the designs I spotted were culprits of the nail extension fad. In the first photo we have an elegant silver design with glittered tips. Our second picture shows a lovely shade of pale lilac, made to be bold with the use of bright glitter on the middle finger and an interesting geometric design on the ring. If your daring enough to rock these long nails and know how to take care of this high maintenance trend, do it, because this is a timeless style always sure to fit every occasion.
4.) Purple

As shown multiple times throughout this post, lilacs and purples are being seen everywhere. Perhaps it’s the upcoming spring season that is inspiring people to decorate their nails in pastel pinks and lavenders. Regardless, one of the top trends to keep your eye on is this beautiful shade of violet. You can either wear it classic like the first picture, or flaunt something different like the second by adding a statement to your ring finger- the choice is yours. As long as you’re sporting purple nails, you’re sure to stay on trend.
If your thinking about spicing up your style by focusing on the details, investing in these eclectic nail designs is the way to go. From springtime appropriate pinks and purples to statement pieces like long acrylics or stiletto nails, these trends are for sure to make you stand out. So next time you go to the nail salon, make sure to keep these fads in mind for your next manicure.
Blog #7: Top 5 Style Trends
Regarding this blog, there are many different style trends that can be applied to my type fo audience. This blog appeals to the modern day woman who’s style reflects on the current times and incorporates timeless classics into their wardrobe. Here are the top 5 timeless style trends that are still popular and stylish to this very day:
1.) Classic Black

The most classic look of all time is black. Black is an amazing color to wear as it not only makes the wearer appear slimmer but also matches with just about everything one can have in their closet. No matter what the decade, black has always been the number one color to wear. You can dress up an all black outfit like Kendall Jenner did by adding a statement belt, or mix and match materials like Zendaya did by pairing a velvet pant suit with a lace garment underneath. If you’re feeling like your playing it too safe with an all black outfit and you want to make a bold statement, you can also do what Gigi Hadid did here by pairing your look a navy jacket, or a jacket of any color for that matter. That’s the greatest part about black- you can wear anything with it!
2.) High Wasted Pants

The high waisted trend started in the 1950’s and really made it’s mark during the 70’s. However, unless you live under a rock, it’s clear to see the high waisted trend has made a huge comeback. Similar to wearing black, high waisted jeans are extremely slimming and can create the illusion of a smaller waist. High waisted jeans can be worn casually, like Madison Beer did with light washed, distressed denim, or can be dressed up like Chrissy Teigen did by pairing her high waisted pants with heels and a trench coat. High waisted pants can also be worn as a skirt, as seen on Beyonce in the photo above. No matter what the occasion, high waisted pants are always a safe bet.
3.) Metallics

One trend that made a mark in the early 00’s and still continues to remain relevant is the bold and elegant metallic printed garments. Metallics are a reflection on our current age of the new millennium as silvers and golds are seen as colors of the future. In the picture above, you can see Paris Hilton wearing her glitzy garment to her 21st birthday party in 2002, side by side to Kendall Jenner wearing the same exact thing for her 21st in 2016. Fourteen years later and the same dress is in style, that’s how you know a trend is iconic. We also see Kim Kardashian rocking a gold gown to the Met Gala and Jennifer Lopez looking stunning in her reflective silver dress at the 2019 Oscars. Both these dresses display the metallic trend perfectly as metallics are a great way to show glitz and glam but also make a bold statement and turn heads.
4.) Fur

Fur is a controversial trend, as it is constantly debated whether it is ethical or not. Regardless of your stance on the matter, there is no denying fur is extremely glamorous and chic and a fashion statement that will never go out of style. Fur coats have been around as long as anyone can remember and they still remain a fashion staple to this day. Fur is a stylish way to stay warm during the winter while looking elite and exuding class. Here we have Lady Gaga wearing a classic fur coat, a style that we have seen for years and years now. In recent times however celebrities have really amped up their fur game, like Rihanna rocking a fun bubblegum pink or Nicki Minaj in a unique hooded style. If you don’t want to throw the cash for these expensive garments, you can still look a million bucks in faux fur.
5.) Athleisure

The one trend we’ve been hearing all about in the last year is athleisure. Athleisure is exactly what it sounds like, athletic wear but for leisure. Instead of wearing leggings and sneakers to the gym, people are wearing these looks on the streets as it is a rapidly growing trend. The first time we saw this style was in the 80’s, where spandex and leg warmers were all the rage. We then saw this trend make a return with track suits in the early 00’s (remember Juicy Couture?). Now with brands like Lulu Lemon, athleisure is back and better than ever. Kim Kardashian might be the most known for sporting this trend as her husbands fashion line, Yeezy, is known for it’s many high fashion athleisure looks. We also can see style icons Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid strutting their high waisted leggings and track sneakers on the streets. This trend is a huge reflection on the current times as we are living in the age of health and fitness, with cold pressed juices and açaí bowls. It’s no wonder the fitness trend doesn’t just end at the gym.
My favorite part of the fashion world is how trends can reflect on the current times. Looking at past fads, it’s like viewing a time capsule that mirrors the events of that time. Like clock work, the most popular trends always seem to make a comeback a decade or so later. Timeless pieces such as an all black outfit or a fur coat are staple pieces everyone should incorporate into their closets as it seems to never go out of style. And after viewing the revival of metallics and athleisure wear, it makes me wonder what proclaimed dead trends from before are due for a comeback. It’s time to keep our eye on looks we thought were never going to be worn again, because you never know when an old style will become trendy.
The Oscars
The Oscars is not only about honoring the film industry, but is also about fashion, and this year the red carpet did not disappoint. The 2019 Oscars were full of classic Hollywood glam. The red carpet showed us many trends that reflect on the current day and age of fashion. The looks being pulled were extremely similar to those shown at the Grammy’s, so if you want to be fashion forward this upcoming season, I would definitely keep your eye on these following trends.
1.) Pink

The amount of pink worn to the Oscars this year was overwhelming. It seemed like this was the color everyone was sporting. The shades of pink shown varied, from a baby pink shown on Kacey Musgraves, to a fuchsia on Angela Bassett or even a bright hot pink worn by Sarah Paulson. It’s no secret that millennial pink is the trend of the decade, but seeing all the variations of this fun bubbly shade was a nice pop of color amongst the Oscars crowd.
2.) Baby Blue

The origin of millennial pink is interesting as it is the shade of pink you’d see at a girls baby shower. The interesting thing about this is the less recognized millennial blue, or as most people know it, baby blue. It is a total parallel of the millennial pink we kept seeing at the Oscars. I only saw a few looks flaunting this color, but it definitely stood out to me as this isn’t a color we see on the red carpet often. Charlize Theron and Laura Harrier wore the same shade of baby blue while Elaine Welteroth wore a shade falling more on the aqua spectrum.
3.) Black Ballgowns

There’s nothing that’s more classic Hollywood than a black ball gown. These following looks give off elegant and opulent vibes. The ball gown of course is a classic look for the Oscars but the color black always stands out and makes a dramatic statement. Lady Gaga was definitely giving us old Hollywood vibes with her elbow length gloves, and Aubrey Graham showed her body off in a sexy yet classy way by using a mermaid shaped dressed. The most interesting of these looks was definitely Billy Porter, who showed us something we haven’t really seen before- a suit that transitions into a ballgown. This look defined the type of androgyny Billy Porter is famous for and completely stole the show.
4.) Metallics

The last trend that really stood out was the use of metallics. Also seen at the Grammys and during Fashion Week, metallics are making a huge comeback. Giving us early 00’s vibes, there’s no better way to make a statement in an elegant way than to wear a sequined garment. When we think of the red carpet, we think of glitz and glam. Seeing these celebrities in their glittering gowns definitely did not disappoint. Jennifer Lopez absolutely dazzled the crowd with her disco ball-esque gown, while Michelle Yeoh took a more subtle route by wearing a nude dress over powered by silver accents. Brie Larson also brought us future chic with her high neck metallic sequined gown.
This year, the red carpet really impressed me as all the looks showed just the right amount of elegance and right amount of bold. After observing the red carpet, its safe to say what trends we need to look out for. The biggest one’s are definitely pink and metallics, as we also saw similar looks shown at the Grammy’s. Regardless, it’s nice to see the old classic Hollywood glamour vibe is back and better than ever.
Blog #5
Fashion Week Trends:
New York fashion week this year was full of many different trends. The Fall/ Winter 2019 looks showed up elegance, simplicity and all though the color scheme I noticed this year was quite bland the outfits were full of bold personality. The following five trends are some looks I’d definitely keep my eye on for the upcoming season, as these looks from the runway are soon to grace the streets.
1.) Orange

Most of the colors seen on the runway this year were lacking in colors, lots of naturals, however, this one trend really stood out to me. Nothing screams louder than the color orange, which I saw a few garments of the warm sunny color this year. Orange for the fall and winter is a bold choice as it stands out above the usual muted cold tones of the season. However, I think orange is an amazing trend to spot during the fall as it reflects on the color of the changes leaves and trees.
2.) Glitter

Another trend I picked up on during this fashion week is the use of sparkles, glitter, sequins and metallic. This trend is a fun way to keep the fall and winter color scheme together but still bring some unique looks to the mix. The use of metallics is also a huge reflection on the current millennium as sequins and silvers are often seen as a futuristic style.
3.) Ruffles

Another trend I spotted on the runway this year was ruffles. When I think of ruffles I think of a 1980’s prom, which is actually a look that is making a comeback today. All though some people may say ruffles aren’t the most flattering style, you’d be surprised by the illusion it can create on the wearer as the large flowy pattern can make you appear smaller. It’s the perfect staple to adding elegance to your wardrobe this upcoming season.
4.) Animal Print

Animal print- another style from the 80’s that is making a huge comeback. Animal print is a perfect way to make a bold statement out of any garment. Whether it be leopard spots, zebra stripes, or snake print- the entire jungle was seen on the runway this year. A perfect way to make your fall/winter wardrobe just a little bit more interesting.
5.) Fur

Tying in with the animal print theme I previously mention, another trend spotted is fur. Fur has been an extremely popular trend lately so its no surprise we saw it on the runway this year. There’s no better way to stay warm this fall and winter season than wearing a timeless and elegant fur piece.
Regarding this years New York Fall/Winter 2019 fashion week, it’s safe to say we will be seeing quite a few trends this following season. It’s interesting to see styles from the 80’s making a revival, such as ruffles and animal prints. It’s also great to see bold statement patterns such as oranges and metallic shown off this year. After observing this years fashion week, I know what trends I’ll be adding to my wardrobe for the seasons to come.
